Biker Movies

There are a huge number of biker movies kicking around, most of them now available on DVD or VHS. Places like amazon or ebay on the internet are a particular good source.

Many of them these movies are not the best films in the world, but are nevertheless still worth a viewing, especially in that twilight period after the pub, and before you wake up with a splitting headache, vowing “never again”.

These are some that members of BOTF MCC are particularly fond of, in no particular order....

No Limit 1936(This paragraph is sponsored by Grandad)
The first and greatest TT movie of all time. George Formby struts his stuff around the TT course. The fantastic thing about this movie is that although it was shot seventy years ago, many of the places were scenes were shot are still very recognizable. The shopping center in Douglas near the Gaiety Theater and Douglas Head, are in particular just the same.(2008 - Now sadly demolished, replaced with a sanitised glass and metal carbuncle)

George is a cult hero, especially on the Isle of Man, where he even has his own series of stamps! Watch this and you will feel the need to turn your bike into a replica of "The Shuttleworth Snap"
Available from Ebay for about a fiver.

Psychomania - 1971

A great British cast including Beryl Reid and Nicky Henson take a ride with the Living Dead!

"Quality" horror flick about a motorcycle gang who make a pact with the devil in order to become immortal.

Part of the pact is that they have to kill themselves off first(In suitably  ghoulish ways of course), each biker picking a more bizarre way to die than the last - and then they wreak havoc in a peaceful pre-punk English countryside when they are resurrected!

Possibly the worst film ever made, but great to watch.

Only seems available in US Region 1 DVD format. About a tenner on ebay.

Stone - 1974

70’s Australian cult movie.

A drug-addled biker witnesses a political assassination, with the result that the assassin is now after the biker and his gang, the Gravediggers.

The Club all chase about on identical Kawasaki 900s which gives the film a great feeling of the early seventies. The funeral ride out sequence is very effective.

Only seems available in US Region 1 DVD format. Plenty of VHS copies knocking around.

I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle 1990

Man buys a bike which holds a bad spirit. Said bike then tries to wipe out everything in its path. Dead silly but really funny. Great British cast including Neil Morrisey.

Party Party 1983

Not really a bike movie, although there is a Suzuki SP370 in it as I recall, but much recommended viewing all the same. Simple story about New Years Eve party. Great music and you will feel like you been to a party after you have seen it. Stock up on the beer, sit back and enjoy spotting loads of unkowns that have gone onto better things, oh and the bloke off the Flash adverts.
