Geoff Duke, Mike the Bike, Ago and of course Sheene to name but a few have all contributed to the top bike racing class that is Moto GP (AKA 500 GP).

This really is the top dog class. Big budgets, one off prototype bikes and a huge spectacle. Some say the quality of the racing has suffered recently with the onset of F1 style electronics, but you can't deny that this is still the Blue Riband Class of Bike Racing.

Valentino Rossi is king of the castle, winning the championship again in 2008. Massively popular the world over, Rossi is certainly the most high profile bike racer since Sheene.

2009 should turn out to be an excellent year with our lad James Toseland hopefully doing the business now that he is in his second year, and knows the circuits..
 

Sadly 2009 also see’s the end of the totally briliant Eurosport coverage, now that the beeb has the exclusive UK rights. The jury’s out on how bad it will, be. It is however unlikly to be a patch on the Eurosport coverage.
