24 Hour Racing

24hrlemanlast

“Twenty four hour races are sort of like GP's on steroids”.

These guys really go for it right from the off, and simply don't seem to slow down, even when it gets dark and cold. In fact some riders say they prefer the nighttime sessions.

For the punters its like an all day (and night) party cum barbecue. Bloody fantastic really.
You do need to pace yourself however. When I went to my first endurance race I got really wrecked during the first few hours, fell asleep, and woke up the next morning, having missed the racing in the dark - which is what I really wanted to see!

Twenty four hour racing is basically a continental thing - its the nearest equivalent thing they have to our TT. The best you can expect in Blighty is a an occasional 8 hours race.

The best place to go is without doubt, Spar in Belgium. This is a fantastic circuit, and one every race fan should go to for a race - any race. Then there's Le Mans - steeped in History and a pretty good spectator circuit.

Both these tracks are a ferry crossing and a couple of hours ride away.
